Today, Cameron and I went to Paia for crepes and coffee at Cafe Des Amis before walking around the town browsing the shops. I finally bought myself a pair of Havaiana slippers, and I love them! Later, we drove to Maalaea intending to do some beach photos, but upon finding it completely dirty from the storm flooding, we decided to go up to Olinda for an impromptu photoshoot in the forest.
Today, I woke up early to the continuing lighting and thunder and rain, but it went away by 9:30am, and was a gloriously clear morning. Later, I met up with Cameron and we went to the mall to work at Starbucks for a while before doing a little shopping. After I came home my mom and I drove up the mountain a bit with Koda, but the vog was already coming back.
Today, I flew to Maui through the stormy weather, though I did get to see two whales off the coast of Maui right before I landed. Later, I went out with my mom to shoot photos of the storm clouds at sunset before settling in for a night of lightning and Skype.
Today, I went with my mom to town to finally watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One. Later, we came home and took some author portraits for her, but Koda kept interrupting.
Today, I went to the Ali`i Kula Lavender farm with Mika and her friends, where we had lavender scones and lavender coffee before driving further up the hill for some photography lessons in the forest. Later, I went with Sarah and Gabriel to the Waihou Springs trail, where we hiked to the bottom and took some photos, though it was dark by the time we made it back to the car.
Today, I flew to Maui to go to the beach with my visiting cousins, boys ages 11 and almost-15. Later, they got to talk to him on Skype as he was getting ready for work. I came back to Oahu and zoned out for a while.
Today, I got to talk to him a bit at the airport before boarding my 6:30am flight to Maui. Later, I spent the afternoon with Mike Carino and his fiancee, Jenna, shooting some engagement photos for them. I love how different Maui is from Oahu, offering a lot of photo locations I don't usually get to work with. The foggy hills of Poli Poli are particular favorites of mine.
